Biography
Dr. Martin Velez is originally from Texas and graduated from the University of Texas – Health Science Center Houston in 1989. He is also a graduate of New York University/St. Barnabas Hospital, General Practice Residency in New York City. He received his oral and maxillofacial surgical training in the United States Army, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center, Ft. Gordon in Augusta, Georgia.
Lieutenant Colonel Velez was Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ft. Campbell, KY and served as the Deputy Commander of Clinical Services with the 86th Combat Support Hospital during combat operations in Kuwait and Iraq.
Dr. Velez had the privilege to care for the incredible service men and women, while serving in the military for fourteen years. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bosnia- Herzegovina, and Iraq. He also had the privilege to have served and deploy with the 24th Mechanized Infantry Division, 30th Medical Brigade, and the 86th CSH with the 101st Airborne Division.
Dr. Velez is board certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Velez is a Fellow of the American Society of Implant & Reconstructive Dentistry (ASIRD). He has practiced for a short time in Boulder, Colorado and then joined Atlanta Oral Facial Surgery in 2006. Dr. Velez enjoys traveling with his family, as well as fishing and off- roading in his jeep.
Dr. Velez and wife Kathleen, originally from Atlanta, currently reside in the Alpharetta area.

From the front desk staff to the doctors assistant, making me feel so at ease getting me ready for my procedure. My mother had to have two teeth extracted, which was made even more difficult due to her age of 91. Atlanta Oral & Facial Surgery made the procedure easy for her! In addition, the aftercare instructions were straightforward for her family to follow, which was much appreciated. Dr. Velez and staff were wonderful with her and we highly recommend them!!
