Biography
Dr. Paul “PJ” Schaner, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been practicing in Marietta for the last 22 years with Atlanta Oral & Facial Surgery. He is the current CEO of Atlanta Oral and Facial Surgery. He has been an executive member of the committee that manages this practice for 10 years. He brings considerable clinical acumen and dental business expertise to the group. AOFS is an integral component of Beacon Oral Specialists MSO for which he is a board member.
Dr. Schaner received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Denison University in Ohio, where he obtained All American status for four years as a swimmer. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and completed a General Practice Residency in Hospital Dentistry at The University of Pittsburgh. Following this, he completed his surgical training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx, New York. Dr. Schaner completed a fellowship in advanced surgical training in cosmetic and reconstructive facial surgery in Columbus, Mississippi, at Baptist Hospital. He attends and conducts study clubs regularly to keep his surgical skills up to date and to provide his patients with the most current treatment options and information. He has contributed to the literature of implant and cosmetic facial surgery. In addition, he donates his time to organized dentistry in leadership roles as well as significant volunteer services to those in need.
His interests include spending time with his wife, four adult children and two dogs. He is an avid golfer and outdoorsman.

I got my wisdom teeth out with Dr. Schaner and it could not have been a better experience from the moment I walked into the office through post-op care! The entire staff was kind and welcoming and the office was very nice. I would recommend Dr. Schaner and his staff to anyone!

Let me start by saying Dr.Schaner and his amazing assistant are literally the best dynamic duo! From my first initial visit where I was in pain (Didn’t feel any when I left) until today where I had them removed (Also don’t feel any now and it’s been about 12 hours post-op), they took care of me. I’ve never felt so at ease and relaxed, I have bad dental anxiety to the point of I’ll suffer before seeing dentist. I’m now eating and moving around same day. Thank you guys! I’d definitely recommend this practice to family and friends !

My experience so far with this office has been amazing. I came in today expecting to not be seen for a few weeks for extraction of two problem teeth. Dr. Schaner’s office has me scheduled for April 1st. Amazing service and can't wait to be rid of these teeth. Highly recommend front staff, dental assistants and oral surgeon are all amazing and easy to talk to and speak with. Other Oral Surgeons couldn't even see me until the 15th of April for a consultation. So A+ on quick and speedy service :)
